Frequently Asked Questions

What age group is the Intermediate program for?

Our intermediate program is designed for swimmers ages 5 to 12 who are ready to move past the basics. We help children refine their stroke technique, build stamina, and grow more confident in the water.

Do swimmers need to complete Learn to Swim first?

Yes. Before joining the intermediate program, swimmers should be comfortable with the foundational skills. This ensures they’re ready to focus on more advanced techniques such as longer freestyle, backstroke, butterfly basics, and treading water, making progression smoother for every swimmer.

How long is each Intermediate class?

Each Intermediate lesson is a 30-minute session designed to keep students engaged while allowing focused skill practice. This duration strikes a balance between refining technique, building stamina, and keeping lessons fun and productive for developing swimmers.

How does Intermediate differ from beginner lessons?

Intermediate goes beyond basic comfort and introductory strokes. Swimmers focus on building continuous freestyle (50 yards), backstroke (25 yards), butterfly fundamentals, and strong treading-water skills. The emphasis is on technique refinement, endurance, and expanding skills in a supportive environment with small class sizes.

Can Intermediate swimmers join BD Elite later?

As swimmers build stronger strokes and better endurance in Intermediate, they’re in a great position to move toward BD Elite. When they show consistent technique, control, and confidence in the water, we can guide them into a more advanced training environment focused on higher-level skills.
